FS98 Embraer Bandeirante G-BFZK Air Ecosse

***********************************************************************************************
Air Ecosse was a small Scottish airline which operated cargo and scheduled passenger services
from its hub at Aberdeen, Scotland during the 'Seventies and 'Eighties.
It operated passenger services to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast, Dundee, East Midlands, Carlisle,
Isle of Man, Wick and London Heathrow. In addition Datapost services were operated on behalf of
the Post Ofice, and a few aircraft were painted in a spectacular overall red scheme with yellow
'Datapost' titles. Unfortunately, this scheme was a bit too complex to do successfully in FS98
due to the nature of the type of 'double line' lettering used.
The airline was a subsidiary of Fairflight Ltd of Biggin Hill, but like all (or at least almost all)
small airlines in Scotland, it eventually ceased business.
Air Ecosse operated the Twin Otter, Shorts 330 and Shorts 360 as well as the Bandeirante, and I
believe they may even have toyed with a BAC 1-11 for a short time.

TECHNICAL NOTES

Sadly, I have been unable to fully animate this aircraft. I don't know why, but the flaps just
won't appear after the plane has been in AA. If you can fix it, feel free - and send me a copy! I did
try another model, but although it was fully animated, the rudder was the wrong size and, in my
opinion, spoilt the aircraft.
Like many Bandeirantes on the Net, this one has a two piece windscreen. I've never seen a real one
like that,so I assume it might just be a mistake. The fully animated aircraft I tried had the correct
windscreen but I couldn't live with that rudder. Anyone skilled enough to sort out these minor flaws
is welcome to try.
If you want better sound - and you should - there's PT6 sound available, but you'll have to search for
it yourself.

CREDITS

The original aircraft is by Marty Baclawski and Tony Bolton, with alterations (to the
tail, I believe) by Frank Safranek.
Although all the textures are redone using photos from my 70,000 plus collection of aircraft slides
from 1970 onwards, I did look at all the other Bandeirantes available, to help me with such things
as the underside of the wings etc. Bandeirantes have been made or re-painted by Roberto da Costa Nery
and Ralph Bolssonaro, David Henderson, Rafael Zimmermann and quite a few others. Rafael's has chrome
spinners which add greatly to the realism and these were made for him by Marcel Ritzema, who has also
helped me out in the past. I made my own spinner textures, but of course, they are very much a case of
'Its easy when you know how!' Its basically just a triangle shaded from black to white and back again,
but all credit must go to Marcel who effectively (and I hope not unwillingly) taught me that.
Thanks to everyone else too. Please be assured that if any of my repaints can help you in your project,
feel free to use them - just mention me in your 'read me' file to satisfy my ego!

LEGAL NOTES

This aircraft model is an enhancement for Microsoft's Flight Simulator 98. It is
Freeware and must not be sold under any circumstances, either singly or as part of
any software package whatsoever. All the various elements of the model are the
copyright of the creator of that element, who has agreed to its free distribution
as part of this file only.
In particular the repaint is my copyright and I will not give permission for
my work to be sold.

NOTE: Nothing in this zip file will harm your computer; however, by installing the plane
you accept the risk.

INSTALLATION

Unzip the file (using Winzip or similar) into a temporary folder or, at your own
discretion, straight into the AIRCRAFT folder of FS98. I have tested it with Winzip v.7,
and it zipped staight in, but I tried Winzip 8 previously with another aircraft, and it
installed it in the 'aircraft' folder but still inside the folder which I use to zip it up.
If you are not confident that your unzipping software will keep the stored folders intact,
use a temporary folder, and create the aircraft file as follows:-
put all the .AF files in a new folder called 'texture'(without the inverted commas)
put all the mdl.files, PLUS the notepad or Word file called 'model' in a new folder
      called 'model'
put the notepad or Word file called 'panel' in a new folder called 'panel'
put the notepad or Word file called 'sound'in a new folder called 'sound'
delete the file called FILE_ID - you dont need it any more
delete the image file for the same reason
	make a new folder called 'Air Ecosse EMB-110' and put everything inside it;
then put this folder into the AIRCRAFT folder of FS98. Start FS98 and the aircraft
      should be there!

You can download a panel and EMB110 sound file from www. flightsim.com, but I must admit I dont use
the sound file myself, so I cant vouch for it.
.
Have fun flying!
